Cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are our nation's No. 1 killer. To urge Americans to join the battle against these diseases, since 1963 Congress has required the president to proclaim February "American Heart Month." The American Heart Association works with the administration to draft and sign this annual proclamation.
In honor of American Heart Month, we will be donating a portion of February's sales to the American Heart Association.
Six cardiologists formed the American Heart Association in 1924. Their goal was to improve public and medical awareness during a time of "almost unbelievable ignorance about heart disease," said Dr. Paul Dudley White, one of the founders. The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency to help reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
