Though the full origin of coffee is not known, one story is of a goat herder named Kaldi who was watching his herd in what is now known as Ethiopia around 500 A.D. He noticed his goats became frisky after eating "red cherries" from a particular bush with shiny green leaves. Kaldi tried a few berries himself, and discovered that this was the drug of renewed energy!
